Watering needs vary depending on temperature and rainfall and also depending on how many days per week you water. In the peak of summer your garden needs 4.35 inches of water for the month. On average over the year – for twice weekly watering, run spray zones for 13 minutes and MP rotators for 50 minutes. To get an accurate measure of how long for your particular system – place an empty cat food tin on the floor in the zone and see how long it takes to fill to 2/3″ – that is how long you should run that zone for in total over a week.
Irrigation run times should be increased as we prepare for warmer weather and the growing season. Remember it is best to water for longer periods less frequently, also only water early mornings, not evenings.
